We provide a full range of town planning, landscape architecture and urban design services.

In the field of town planning the company acts as principal consultant or as sub-consultant to other teams which need a planning input. We advise clients on the best way of securing permission to develop and will advise and guide on what development may or may not be feasible on any particular site. We support clients through the planning process and at public inquiries and hearings by providing experienced expert planning witnesses. We also undertake planning feasibility studies and the preparation of development plans – at varying scales from individual sites to new settlements. Our consultants are experienced in undertaking public consultation and maintaining good relationships with obligatory consultees in the planning process.

In the fields of landscaping and urban design we undertake feasibility studies, detailed design and contract supervision for the full range of landscape and urban design work. Projects we have worked on include country parks, industrial and retail parks, town centre improvements, and high profile street improvement and urban park schemes.

Combining elements of economic evaluation, environmental needs and current and future transport flows, Hyder Consulting assists the development of strategic transport plans at international, national, regional and local levels. Our teams offer wide experience of the most well-used transport planning packages such as TRIPS, EMME/2 and SATURN as well as the more innovative micro-simulation packages PARAMICS and VISSIM.

We assist our clients to develop policies and projects in areas such as integrated transport and multi-modal hubs, public transportation, traffic management, freight quality partnerships, and social inclusion. Our experience in toll systems, road user charging and high occupancy vehicle lanes helps to provide technological solutions to the problems posed by ever increasing levels of traffic in many countries.
