The largest proportion of our professional staff is made up of qualified civil and structural engineers who undertake a wide range of heavy infrastructure projects in a variety of business sectors, involving bridges, tunnels, viaducts and culverts.

With some of the world’s major bridge projects of the 19th and 20th centuries behind us, Hyder Consulting applies this accumulated knowledge to the needs of the modern day. We offer a bridge design service for structures carrying roads, railways, pedestrians and pipelines over a wide variety of water and land obstructions. Our Special Structures team offers particular expertise of bridge refurbishment and in developing solutions for unusual structures such as statues and large telescopes.

Hyder Consulting is also responsible for the design of major tunnels all around the world. We have been responsible for designing more than half of the immersed tube tunnels built around the world but our expertise in tunnelling techniques extends far beyond that.

We have applied our knowledge of working in some of the world’s most active seismic zones to design building and civil structures that comply with some of the strictest seismic design requirements in the world.
